WHEN RHUS TOXICODENDRON FAILS - part 1

Dr.EB NASH -Phytolacca decandra - Dr.H.C. Allen says: Phytolacca occupies a place midway between Bryonia and Rhus tox., and will often help when these seem indicated but fail.

Dr. ROBIN MURPHY Rhus venenata - History - Rhus-v. in one of the most actively poisonous of the Rhus. The skin symptoms of this species of Rhus are most severe. P. B. Hoyt, who first drew attention to it and made the first provings, says it is more poisonous than Rhus-t., which he can handle with impunity, while he was violently affected by Rhus-v. in spite of extreme caution. Further, he considers it more actively curative in a case of Rhus sore throat, when Rhus-t. failed Rhus-v. acted with excellent effect.

Rhus toxicodendron - Calc Carb ----Dr.EA FARRINGTON

We now come to the study of the action of Rhus on the fibrous tissues. Allow me to include under this tissue the aponeuroses and tendons of muscles, the ligaments about joints and the connective tissue. No remedy has a more profound action on the fibrous tissues than has Rhus tox. First of all, I will speak of its action on the tendons of muscles. We find Rhus useful whenever these tendons are inflamed, whether it be from over-exertion or from a sudden wrenching, as in the case of a sprain. We find, also, that we may give Rhus in other affections arising from over-exertion. For example, if a musician from prolonged performing on wind instruments suffers from pulmonary haemorrhages, Rhus will be his remedy. If from violent exertion a patient is seized with paralysis, his trouble may yield to Rhus tox. In sprains, Calcarea ostrearum follows when Rhus has relieved, but failed to cure.

Dr .PRAKASH VAKIL ---Brachial neuralgia - Rhus toxicodendron - "CALC-FLOUR COMPLEMENTARY TO RHUS-TOX PARTICULARLY IN RHEUMATIC CONDITIONSAND ESPECIALLY IN BRACHIAL NEURALGIA WHEN RHUS-TOX RELIEVES THE PAIN BUT FAIL TO CURE. IT IS A GREAT BIOCHEMIC REMEDY FOR STRENGTHENING THE LIGAMENT AND THEREFOREIS OF IMMENSE HELP IN CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS".

SOMETHING ABOUT BELLADONA

1) Belladona is thirsty in GIT affections (Reference Dr.K.D Kanodia from Materia Medica classics)

2)In most homeopathic materia medicas great emphasis is placed on the "suddenness" of belladonna conditions. This "sudden" quality certainly pertains to acute conditions and also to some of the individual crises of chronic conditions, but in the typical chronic cases one very frequently sees a slow steady intensification of symptomatology over the years. Thus, it is usual to find a history where the symptoms began rather innocuously but have been progressing steadily, such that within the last year or so the condition has become unbearable, driving the patient to seek treatment. The pathology of the constitutional belladonna patient generally confines itself to the physical level; this contrasts with the usual patient course seen in other remedies. Typically, a patient will initially manifest only physical symptoms, but, with added stress or suppressive medical therapies, the disease penetrates to involve deeper levels of the organism, i.e. , the mental-emotional sphere. Consequently, in most cases, one sees a mixture of both psychological and physical symptoms. belladonna constitutions, however, seem to "quarantine" the pathology to but some specific physical disorder, perhaps because of their relatively higher vitality. In these patients one usually encounters a history of a progressive intensification of the physical disorder and little evidence of mental or emotional affections. For example, one often hears a patient relate a history of migraine headaches which originally were infrequent and rather mild but which have in the past two years increased in frequency to several times a week and which consist of an almost maddening pain.
As a consequence of the above observations, one can say that the diagnosis and prescription of belladonna is generally made on the basis of physical disorders. However, a characteristic belladonna personality does exist.( Dr. George Vithoulkas in his MATERIA MEDICA VIVA)

SOMETHING ABOUT ABROTANUM - Part 1

1)A great characteristic is the so-called metastasis and the alternation between different disease symptoms i.e. one diseased condition completely disappears and another takes its place.
Inflammation of the parotids changes to inflammation in the testes or mammary glands. (Puls.,) Hydrocele after suppressed eruption. Headache alternates with hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids alternate with rheumatism. Rheumatism alternates with diarrhea or dysentery. Diarrhea alternates with constipation
2)The weakness and prostration combined with a kind of hectic fever can also occur after an influenza especially in children. (One should not only think of remedies like Gels., Chin., etc. in such cases.)
3)* Metastasis.
* Ill effects of suppressed conditions especially in gouty subjects
* After operation upon the chest for hydrothorax or empyaemia, a pressing sensation remains.
4) By and large the best picture of Abrotanum is to be found in Allen's keynotes - Dr.M L Tyler
5)The changing of one so-called disease into another always calls attention to Abrotanum.
or Pulsatilla, but Abrot. has cured when these remedies have failed.
